Captain Joe Pistone was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the Hudson Valley Region of upstate New York. Upon moving to New England nearly 25 years ago, he was intrigued with its abundant history and completely fell in love with the North Atlantic Ocean. When he relocated to Maine, he spent most days on Casco Bay, exploring lighthouses and historic military forts, landing and camping on numerous islands and experiencing the abundant amount of sea life of the Gulf of Maine. In 2015, he relocated to Florida and enrolled into the United States Coast Guard’s “Captain School” and upon completion in 2016, Salt and Mist Sea Tours was born, offering Lighthouse and Seal Tours as well as Sunset Cruises on Casco Bay. Due to its volume and success, Salt and Mist Sea Tours expanded and in 2017, opened a second location in St. Petersburg, Florida, offering Dolphin and Tropical Bird, Tours, Tiki Bar and oceanfront dining  excursions as well as stunning Sunset Cruises on the Gulf of Mexico. In 2018, Salt and Mist Sea Tours officially became a Limited Liability Company in both Florida and in Maine.

In addition to Salt and Mist Sea Tours, Captain Joe works at a 109 year old maritime camp in Kennebunkport, Maine, teaching children how to fish for Maine lobster with his “Critter Cruise”, teaches proper boat safety and general navigation in his “Power Squadron” class and takes them on adventures to Goat Island and Cape Porpoise Lighthouse on his ‘Island Picnic at Sea” class. He has also worked as a Sea Captain conducting Eco tours within the 10,000 Islands off of Marco Island, Florida.

Captain Joe holds a dual Bachelors Degree in Arts and Sciences from American International College in Springfield, MA and is a graduate of the prestigious “Captain School” in Cape Coral, Florida.
